Hi Gorsian

I think Benny already give you right answer, and I need to tell you,
it’s a true story. When I was in high school, one day I told one guy,
I watch “The magic of metamorphism” program on TV
(wǒ zài diàn shì lǐ kàn lē ‘dà biàn huó rén’.), he was shocked, he
ask me who shitted on TV? then I told him, not 大便,is 大变.
see, Chinese people might make mistakes sometimes, that’s why
I suggest foreign students to learn Chinese characters. and don’t
guest by pronunciation before they know lots of Chinese words
and knowledge.

Joey

Taking in consideration that 里 Translated in google from Chinese to English It Gives This RI

Hello Gorsian

In Chinese, the ‘理’ has usages when be used as verb,

1.(管理; 办理) manage; run; deal with
2.(整理; 使整齐) put in proper order; tidy up; clean up
3.(表示态度; 表示意见) take notice of; pay attention to

You know, ‘理发’ means ‘Cut hair’, You can try to understand
‘理发’ can make people’s hair clean and good looking. it’s second
usage above.

For Google translate, I checked the ‘里’, I think Google
is wrong.

<b>

HELLO MR Joey :

THANKS TO YOU VERY MUCH : So This Character 里= lǐ I have Been

Noticed That It Used In This Word that Is nǎ lǐ = 哪 里

that means where and also I have Been Noticed That This

Character lǐ = 理 Used In this Word That Is 理 发 = LǏ FĀ = Barber That Means The Person Who Cut Hair

SO Why We Cannot Use This 里 Instead Of this 理 In Case Of 理 发 = LǏ FĀ To Write it as This 里 发 = LǏ FĀ ??

I know As you Told Me That this 理 Refers To Verb SO What About This 里 = LǏ Like In Case of nǎ lǐ = 哪 里 ??

HI Gorsian

Good question, 里 is a noun for the word “哪里”, the word “哪里” is a little bit hard to
explain to you, because you need to use Chinese way to understand this word. but
don’t worry, just try it.

里 is a noun for the word “哪里”, means “inside”, but “哪里” = where in English.
confused? :)
