Thalia Rodríguez Rivera, let me explain how to say time in Chinese.

Firstly, “diǎn” means “o’clock”, for example: 5 diǎn = 5 o’clock

Secondly “bàn” means half. For example: 5 diǎn bàn = 5:30

In oral Chinese we don’t say “am” or “pm”, we say the specific time, for example:

zǎo shàng 9 diǎn = 9am = 9 o’clock in the morning

xià wǔ 3 diǎn = 3pm = 3 o’clock in the afternonn

wǎn shàng 9 diǎn = 9pm = 9 o’clock at night

Also “hour” in Chinese is " xiǎo shí", for example,

yí ge xiǎo shí = 1 hour, liǎng ge xiáo shí = 2 hours

Happy New Year!

Benny
