For most of the schools and language training ceters, they use textbooks to teach chinese. Text books are well designed for its lessons. But you can’t learn chinese by reading texts from the books, usually the texts are written in a formal way which is not so useful. Also all the texts are fixed, not flexible. You know defferent people speak in defferent ways.

Books are just a reference for you, If you want to learn chinese, you have to practice!
