As someone who has been studying Chinese for almost two years, i sometimes get discouraged by my lack of progress and the fact that I struggle to make even simple conversation with a Chinese person despite a solid vocabulary. Any tips out of the ordinary on what I can do specifically to use my vocabulary more effectively in conversations? Thanks!

I used to second guess myself all the time and struggle with putting words together even when I had enough to start and hold a conversation. When I realized that I was my own worst enemy I stopped worrying about my lack of progress and started talking. Once I did that and they understood me, I started to progress again and I had enough confidence to go out and use the words I did remember and start conversations. And most Chinese native speakers are willing to help you! I hope that helps! | |
