To give up means “fang4 qi4”. In your case, you may say “ta fang qi le ta de meng xiang er cheng wei le ge shou.”
dream=meng4 xiang3
singer= ge1 shou
Hope this helps | |

“to give up” means “fang4 qi4”
“to abandon” means “pao1 qi4”
Their meaning in Chinese is a little bit similar.
But,“pao1 qi4” should be used carefully for it is always used in the situation where the action “to give up” is either wrong or unjustified. | |
