Wow mr. benny, your site is awesome! I just started learning Chinese. Can you explain to me the difference between duo1 jiu3 and duo1 chang2 shi2 jian? I am a bit confused and could you give examples of usages? I like your music.

In fact, “duo jiu and duo chang shi jian” both mean “how long”. Just literally, “duo chang shi jian” means “how much time”. You can say:
xū yào duō jiǔ/ xū yào duō cháng shí jiān = How long does it take?
