‘Dà jiā hǎo’ means ‘Hello, everyone’ Hi Phoebe
thanks for that…. i gathered it was something like that but what do the individual words mean?…. I know “how” is good….. and i know quite a few greetings but i would like the literal translation of the other 2 words so i can see how phrases are constructed.
thanks for your reply

thanks for your rep… Hi Val
In Chinese language, ‘Dà’(大) and ‘jiā’(家) have many meaning, but when we put them together,
‘Dà jiā’ means everybody.

Val Dear Val,
I guess that dà jiā hǎo 大 家 好 litteraly means big [大] family [家] good [好].
Big family then is humanity in its entirerty so everyone! Hence 大 家 is translated as
everyone! 大家 can also mean master like a master in painting guó huà dà jiā
国 画 大 家.
Example:
dà jiā dōu xǐ huān dá fēn qí mēng nuó lì shā tā
shì yì dà lì zuì yǒu míng wén yì fù xìng shí qī de
dà jiā
大家都喜 欢达芬 的 奇蒙娜丽莎,他是 意大利 最有名 文艺复兴时期的大家 .
Everyone [dà jiā] loves Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, he was Italy’s
most famous renaisance master [dà jiā].
(我希望我写这句句子写的标准本霓!)
Succes in your study! 学习顺利
Roland
