Hello Karin,

I can understand your problem, you can try our ‘PinYin Table’, Mr Benny read all PinYin
pronunciation for you, then you can improve your pronunciation first.
Just try it. http://www.askbennychinese.com/reference/pinyin .

Hello Karin,

Maybe this will help:

Guide to Chinese pronounciation:
Here is a rough guid om Chinese pronounciation.
Important are the retoflex (tongue curled backwards) and
the aspirated unaspirated pairs.

===[THE LETTERS D-T B-P]=====
In English and Dutch my language de difference between d-t b-p is: the d and b are voiced (pronounced while vibrating the vocal cords)where as that the t and p are voiceless(vocal cord do not vibrate), in Chinese however all are voiceless, but d and b are unaspirated and t – p are aspirated, spoken with a strong puff of air

他大他 tā dà tā (He hits him (her) tHa ta tHa (H denotes aspiration)

===[THE LETTERS Z C]=====
z and c are both pronounced with the tip of the tongue against your upper gum, c being aspirated.

在 一 次 zài yī cì (again zai yi zHe)

===[THE LETTERS Sh Zh Ch R]======
Sh zh and ch and r are retroflex sounds, that is you have to girl up your tongue towards your hard palette.

Sh is pronounced by pressing air between the narrow opening of your tongue tip and your hard pallete.

你 是 从 那 里 来 的 nǐ shì cóng nà lǐ lái de

Zh Ch
Zh and ch are pronounced the same way as z and c but now with your tongue tip pressed against your upper palette. Ch being aspirated.

中 国 长 城 zhōng guó cháng chéng (Zrong guo ZrHang ZrHeng) Chinese great wall (r=retoflex H is aspirated)
