Woo, a challenge question. I’m confusing what is your exact question because I think the examples you listed are excellent. “I don not know how to use it if it means give”. So, is this your question? If it is, here is my answer.

1.给+你/我/他/它+something
e.g.请给我一杯水。(Please give me a glass of water.)

2. As you said, “qing ba zhege baogao song gei wo请把这个报告送给我)=please send me this report”. I think it also means “please give this report to me.” But, here we use a SPECIFIC verb “send”.
So, SPECIFIC verb+something+给你/我/他/它
例如, 送(send)报告(report)给(give)我
带(bring)蛋糕(cake)给(give)我
发(send)邮件(e-mail)给(give)我
Actually, I might not exactly understand your questions.

Hello Nicolas,

Although 给means to give, it is also a sort of functional word, like in 情送给我一封信 here 给 doesn’t mean to give but rather “to” please send
to me a letter (Please send give me a letter literally).
Here is what the dictionary says:
给【jǐ】 supply; provide; ample; well provided for.
给【gěi】 give; grant; let; allow.

Hope this is helpfull.

万事如意
