Benny你好吗? Can you tell me how the dao4 works in Mandarin? I’ve seen dao placed after a verb many times like, mai3 dao4 meant bought. Can you give me few example where I use dao4 after a verb?

In addition to that, I still don’t understand how do use fa1, there seems to be many uses so could you give me some examples of fa1?

Xie xie!

Hi Sara,

When we put “dao” after the verb, it means “manage to do…..”. For example:

nǐ tīng dào le ma? = Did you manage to hear it?

nǐ kàn dào le ma? = Did you manage to see it?

nǐ mǎi dào le ma? = Did you manage to buy it?
