Dear Benny! I listen to the video: “I want to drink” and I found a difference.
In the beginning you use “he” to say I want to drink a beer and in the coffebar you turn in “mai” and you say, I want to buy a beer. The why of this difference is ‘cause when you are ordening something is more clear mai instead of he?
And now a crazy new. In mandarin you say : wo xiang he (mai) yi bei can bai. (I’d like to drink a glass of white dry wine.) Well: do you know that in Italy we have a very famous drink named CAMPARI? it sounds as can bai….
very funny isn’t it???
yaobang ni!

Thanks so much, Claudia.

I actually did both for “mai and he” because you can use them both. Just choose the way you like to say.

I know there is a famous drink called “CAMPARI”. I have lots of Italian friends here in Shanghai
