Hi Benny, following is the dialogue from a Chinese movie:

男:你们平时铐犯人的时候
是不是一个手铐自己
一个手铐犯人

女:电影看多了

In the above dialogue is “手铐” a verb or a noun?

If it’s a verb, then why do we put 一个 before 手铐, because measure words are used for nouns only, right?

If it’s a noun, then it doesn’t make any sense to me, because when you say “put handcuffs on”, then “put” or “put on” is a verb, not a noun, so how come in the above sentence it is noun?

Hi Actually, the sentence should be "一个手, 铐,犯人。

The verb here is “铐” and the noun here is “一个手 = one hand”

And “烤犯人 = handcuff the prisoner”
