Is “mu hao” and “fu hao” the most formal way of adressing mother and father? i was watching a movie and they kept saying that. what are the characters?

Hi Kevin,
I think it could be Cantonese pronunciation. In Chinese, we say “fu4 qin1父亲”(father) and “mu3 qin1母亲”(mother).

Nowadays, the formal way to address mother and father is “mu3 qin1” and “fu4 qin”

“mu hao” and “fu hao” don’t make any sense in Mandarin. I would presume you watched a movie about ancient China.
