Ni hao, I was wondering how you would make an word end in -ing or – ly. For example, “tapping” “gently” Xie xie!! :)

| | Thu hotmail.com 2009-02-24 / 11:16AM | | en..It seems a bit complicated.
-ing, we usually add “zheng4 zai4” or sometimes do nothing.
e.g. I am reading= wo zheng zai kan shu.
-ly, in Chinese, we add “地” at the end of a word. e.g. “gao xing de”, “kuai le de” .
I think Benny and angels may provide you more on this issue. | |

| | Benny the Mandarin Teacher bennysland.com 2009-02-24 / 03:36PM | | Jenny is right, the present tense in Chinese is a structure which is (zhèng) zài + Verb. "Zhèng“ could be omitted.
As for -ly we put the word “dì 地” after the adjective.
That’s how we differentiate the adjective and adverbs
