Is it also OK to ask, “中国的人口有多少人?” or “中国的人口是多大?” I feel uncomfortable asking, “中国有多少人口?” because if 人口 only means “population,” not “person,” then “中国有多少人口?” sounds like, “How many populations does China have?” (the answer to which would be “one”). If 人口 can also mean “person” or “citizen,” though, then that of course would make everything OK.

Hi 1Brockster15, you can say “中国的人口有多少人”. But this is very unusual way of saying “What’s the population in China”

“中国有多少人口?” it is the common and standard way

人口 only means “population”
