English is my native language as well.. I said that Chinese is easier, mainly because the language is more ‘conceptual’ than English. I also did some research for a paper for one of my college classes. I found out that a 5-year old child (doesn’t matter ethnicity or parents’ native language) more easily picked up Chinese than English.
