As far as I know, you don’t pronounce the tone marks when singing. Does it make it difficult for you to understand a chinese song listened for the first time? It sure might lead into confusion sometimes.. do songwriters play with this ambiguities?

That’s why you need the lyrics when you listen to the song for the first time or listen for more times, then you can fully understand.
