i noticed that you can use
ma & me
ni hao ma
nin shou shen me
when do i use ma or me
what rule applies?

ni hao, Renny. First of all, “ma” is a question word which we put it at the end of the sentence. For example:

ni hao ma? = how are you
ni xi huan Shanghai ma = Do you like Shanghai?

“me” itself doesn’t have meaning, but “shen me” means “what” in Chinese.

Also your sentence “nin shou shen me” doesn’t make sense, I think you meant to say " nin shuo shen me" = what did you say.
