Do you know a former premier of China 朱鎔基. I read his name somewhere written as 朱(金+容)基. Can you please explain me why do we have to divide 鎔 into 金+容 and write it like this?

I know that 金 and 容 are radicals and 鎔 is formed by combining these radicals, but the question is what’s the point of writting it like this by splitting the the character into radicals instead of writing it simply as 鎔. There are many words that can be split into radicals but they are not, then why this one?

Thanks

Hi Lee Kong, please take a look at this “镕”, the left part is not “金”, it’s just a radical which can not be used as a single word.

I think you use the wrong version of this character, it’s not simplified.

Therefore our previous premier’s name should be “朱镕基” not “鎔”

Ok, so the former premier’s name is 朱镕基, but what’s the poing of writing his name as 朱(金+容)基 instead of 朱镕基.

I think the left part of 镕 is not 金, it’s just an radical which has no meaning and can’t be separated as a single Character.

But this radical indicated the meaning of “gold”, I looked up the dictionary.

NO one will write as 朱(金+容)基, as far as I know, it must be a mistake
