Hi Gabriel, In the UK we learn special techniques for singing in different styles; for example folk or opera. Are singers in China trained to sing in a specific way? For example, how are opera singers trained to project their voices.

Nelfie,

Good question.

Singers in China use more of a nasally sound.

As with everything, there’s a specific style, but like martial arts, Classic Chinese Opera Style singing has been passed down for centuries, and each “master” or teacher guards their techniques carefully.

Hope this helps!

Gabriel
