Thanks Benny. However, what if you want to emphasize that you want to go to Beijing, and not somewhere else? Would you put it in front of the sentence then? (Germans do this by the way; I wonder if the fellow I know heard it this way.)

Yes, you can.But usually chinese people say I really really want to go to Beijing=“wo zhen de fei chang fei chang xiang qu Beijing”. You may add more adjectives to emphasize.

Jenny’s answer is great, besides that you can also say:

wǒ jiù yào qù Beijing = I just want to go to Beijing.

“Jiu” = just
