Moreover I was wondering if you had any video’s relating to saying no and yes in Chinese, very basic I know but a common question. I was told from a website, saying no is done by just adding the ‘bu’ negative to shi ‘it is’ or dui ‘true’, bu shi and bu dui but I am not yet fully sure when its appropriate to use them in the language.

Thank you and you are indeed the best Mandarin teacher I have come across!

Hi Paareth, there are several ways of saying “no or yes”. The standard way is shi and bu shi. But this is too formal, sounds like you are saying, “yes, sir or no sir”

Therefore we can use “dui” which means correct or just “hao” it means ok
