Ninhao Laoshi Benny,

It has been a while since I have looked at your videos, I am back into practice and still find your lessons to be the best. You are a talented instructor. Flattery aside, I must ask you: I have been to China and have found that Mandarin varies from city to city. People dont always understand eachother’s language. You are from Shanghai correct? My friends are from Suzhou and I wondered if I learn your Mandarin, will they understand me? Or is there one core Mandarin language that all Chinese people understand?

I appreciate you taking your time to consider my questions. There is no rush to answer this. Keep up the good work!

Barry.

ni hao Barrybadranath,

I really appreciate your support and encouragement.

Mandarin does varies from city to city, different people has different accents, local expressions and even different ways of saying some specific words.

However, the Mandarin that I teach people right now is standard, though I am from Shanghai, but I didn’t teach Shanghai Mandarin. Therefore if you learn from us, I can guarantee you will be understood all over China.

Benny
