i have a question about the instrument played in this video at 2:05

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN4TuoIiIJ0

i’ve been wanting to know if chinese also use/play that instrument or just the miao? also, something i’ve been wondering for YEARS how were the miao categorized. meaning, why were some people called miao and others not?
i hope to get my answers here. i have chinese friends but none can really answer me. since you guys are from china, i hope you guys can answer me. thank you, and i’m looking forward to learn chinese. i would like to visit china one day.

hi cheekySEEKy, that instrument in the video is a traditional instrument from “miáo zhú)”. It’s not called “miao” and most of Chinese people don’t use this. But the sound is very beautiful

Also “Miáo zú” is one of the ethnic group in China.

This instrument is called “máng tǒng”
