hey, im jacob. i am upsesed with the chinese culture an im going to Beijing and hong kong. and maybe shanghai with my friend. I was wondering if i learned mandarin. would i be able to understand what the other people are speaking that speak different Chinese. And when i go to hong kong. will they speak mandarin?

If you go to Hong Kong, most of will understand but their first language is Cantonese. Well, I think you can speak English there.
