Hi! nǐ men hǎo! How are you? Today's experience is talking about the supermarket. In Mandarin, “supermarket” is “chāo shì”. It's part of our daily life, nobody can live without it. So listen carefully, it's really the survival language!

Here are new words:

Qīng jié yòng pǐn

You may find the item you want to buy by yourself, but why not try a faster way to save you a bit of time: by asking a shop assistant in Mandarin! The basic sentence pattern “where is...” is “...zài nǎ lǐ”:

For example

Nǎi zhì pǐn qū zài nǎ lǐ?

Where is the dairy produce section?

Ròu zhì pǐn qū zài nǎ lǐ?

Where is the meat section?

Qīng jié yòng pǐn qū zài nǎ lǐ?

Where is the cleaning section?

Or you can use another way to ask:

Wǒ zhǎo huà zhuāng pǐn qū.

I'm looking for the toiletries section.

For when you buy those big and bulky items which need home delivering:

Nǐ men sòng huò ma?

Do you deliver?

Let's learn more in future experiences, because it's very important to get this down right! See you next time! Xià cì jiàn!

It's easy as ABC!
