Hi, dàjiā hǎo. In today’s experience, we will learn some basic dialogs relating to the restaurant. Here are some words that can definitely be put into practice in the first restaurant you go to:

càidān

菜单

menu

fúwùyuán

服务员

waiter/waitress

qǐng

please

diǎn

order

jīròu

鸡肉

chicken

niúròu

牛肉

beef

spicy

mǎidān

买单

Pay the bill

fāpiào

发票

invoice

Now using these words you can easily ask the waiter/waitress to serve you when you walk into a restaurant:

Fúwùyuán, càidān.

Waiter/Waitress, menu, please.

服务员,菜单。

Now you can order food:

Wǒ yào diǎn jīròu/niúròu.

I want to order chicken/beef.

我要点鸡肉/牛肉。

Nǐmen yǒu niúròu ma?

Do you have beef?

你们有牛肉吗?

If you don’t like spicy food, you can say:

Wǒ bù yào là.

I do not want spicy.

我不要辣。

Now it’s time to pay the bill. It’s very easy:

Mǎidān.

Pay the bill.

买单。

Qǐng gěi wǒ fāpiào.

Invoice, please.

请给我发票。

Ok, this is today’s experience. Next time when you eat out, don’t forget to use what we learned today. Don’t be afraid, it’s easy as ABC!
