This is excellent. You’re a good teacher, Benny! I especially like your clear use of tones. That’s one of the hardest things for an English-speaking person to learn.

xie xie for your clear speaking Benny

But I recognized one thing , When you teach the lesson , you said us " he" means is drink, but when you meet the waitress you used “mai” .

is both of them in same mean?

Xie xie ni, Mehmet! You are a really good learner!

Yes I’ve noticed what you mentioned. It should be “he”, to drink. “mai” means to buy. They are different, but both we can tell the waitress.

Many thanks for your comment. Hope seeing more of you here!

Xie xie ni, Benny! This one I couldn’t do without. I drink quite a lot of ka fei. I also like your clear pronunciation of the words and tones, it really helps. Also, how would you say “I’m going to get a coffee” – that would be useful for me online.

Xie xie ni !Pooshybooshy. Sometimes I drink a lot of ka fei too, but I also drink tea. What about you?

I’m going to get a coffee, in Mandarin, we say “wo yao qu he yi bei ka fei”.

wo = I

yao = be going to

he = drink (for “get”, if you mean “to buy”, you can say “mai”; if you mean “to make”, you can say “nong”; if you mean “to get a coffee here”, you can say “na”)

yi bei kai fei = a cup of coffee (in Mandarin, we usually use measure word)

Ok, wo yao qu he yi bei ka fei!

Xie xie ni, Benny. I do drink tea, yes, even moreso than coffee nowadays. I heard it gave a lot of people heartburn and made them sick, though that wasn’t so with me, despite the fact I drank more coffee than most – but that’s probably because they suffered from a caffeeine withdrawal, and I was always drinking it! So now I drink more cha.

Well, thank you again. Wo yao qu he yi bei cha. Xia ci jian!

From my time on the chinese international flights I do believe it was ‘shui ba’. That’s what they were saying anyway. My chinese friend told me it is just a translation by the sound of the word.

A quick look at Wikipedia tells me its:
雪碧 (Pinyin: xuĕ bì, roughly pronounced as “shawy bee”)

They’ve got a different logo and bottle too, enjoy!

Hey Claudia!

I was just responding to the previous post about what ‘Sprite’ is called in China.

Here’s some links!
