The art of war

I am currently reading a book called "the art of the war". It's a really interesting book. I believe some of you may know it already.

In Chinese we called it "Sūn Zǐ Bīng Fǎ". This theory is known as a Chinese military treatise that was written by someone called "Sun Tzu" in the Spring and Autumn period. It has had a huge influence on Eastern military thinking, business tactics, and beyond. Everything written in this book can be used for doing business or in one's daily life. I have been inspired a lot by this book.

There is definitely many English versions or other language versions, you should be able to get it at the bookstore. I strongly recommend this book to all of you.

Let me know how it goes.

Excellent choice- they’re definitely a myriad of applications. It’s great to pair with Machiavelli.

One book I recommend is “China High: My Fast Times In The 010:A Beijing Memoir” by the anonymous ZZ. Though it takes place mainly in Beijing, there is some mention of life in Shanghai, where the author is originally from. If one chooses, they can google my review. Besides immersing one in modern China, it does offer up vocabulary rich with context a la the francophile writers of Miller or Hemingway.

Benny, how would you say, ‘Have you read this book’ or ‘Have you heard of it?’

Thanks for all your help. Great site.

Best,
Brion

Hi Brion,

Have you read this book = nǐ kàn guò zhè běn shū ma?

‘Have you heard of it?’ = nǐ tīng shuō guò ma?
